TWIN4CITIES will test and demonstrate its solutions through one pre-pilot environment and three main pilot cities, representing different urban challenges, planning needs and digital maturity levels. These pilot environments will provide the real-life context for testing, validating and improving the project’s Local Digital Twin ecosystem and AI-based tools.
The DUTH Campus in Xanthi will serve as the project’s pre-pilot environment, where TWIN4CITIES solutions will be tested and validated at a smaller scale before deployment in the three main pilot cities. This will support early technical validation, user feedback and refinement of the developed tools.
The Danish demonstration will focus on evidence-based urban planning, green infrastructure, public space design and immersive technologies for participatory planning.
The Greek demonstration will focus on energy self-sufficiency, energy communities, renewable energy integration, forecasting and resilience-oriented urban management.
The Spanish demonstration will focus on climate risk assessment, building vulnerability, environmental modelling and simulation of adaptation and mitigation strategies.
Beyond the main pilot cities, TWIN4CITIES will support replication activities with follower cities, helping them adapt the project’s methods, tools and guidance to their own local contexts.
